Happy Birthday to us!
Happy Birthday to us! Blackweekly.com is celebrating its 3rd year enriching the greater Los Angeles African American community, and we wanted to thank our loyal readers for making it possible. While similar transient sites have come and gone, Blackweekly.com has solidified its position as a leader in quality social events, and informing our readers about the best of what LA has to offer. To celebrate this significant achievement, we are planning an Anniversary Bash at the end of January and we'd love to see you there!
Of course, if you know us, we're not going to throw just any routine, been-there-done-that party for our anniversary. No way - what would be the fun of that? Because of our strong belief in our community, we're adopting the Harlem Renaissance as our theme this year. In that watershed decade, black intellectuals like W. E. B. Du Bois and Alain LeRoy Locke, crucial writers such as Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen, and Zora Neale Hurston, and influential painters like Hale Woodruff and Edward Burra redefined not only black art, but created a movement that was felt the world over.
And we believe Los Angeles has all the potential to usher in another great era in African American culture, and we want to do whatever we can to inspire our community to make it happen. In just three short years, we have acquired over 7000 local members, making it one of the most popular website
destinations for entertainment, business, and community events.
We're also giving black businesses access to our market of professionals, the median of which has an average age between 32-45, an annual income of $63,000, two children, and who use the internet between 8 - 12 hours weekly. 78% of Blackweekly.com members are college graduates with 36% holding master degrees. They tend to eat out a minimum of 3 times/ week, and go to the movies at least once. This demographic is the fastest growing segment onthe Internet, and we cater to these intelligent, discriminating professionals.
Blackweekly.com's commitment to innovation and the perpetual informing of our readers has led to the introduction of New Features that will premier Jan 15, 2003.
